About this deal

Needless to say there are many grim facts that lead up to the final scene, which have been an accumulation of devastating events from the past coming back to haunt both Ellie and Steven. Secondly I felt the writing was far too heavy on scene description at the expense of character development. I can feel the chilling cold, I can hear the logs crackling in the fireplace - everything comes alive with her skilful writing. Nobody But Us is told in alternating (and very distinct) perspectives from the points-of-view of WIll and Zoe.

Overall, I really wanted to fall head over heels for this book, but in the end it just fell flat in more ways than one. I was expecting to be manipulated, but the reality of the deception showed the depths of the damage caused by such events. My three stars suggests middle-of-the-road but in actuality, I was on opposite ends regarding several aspects. The entire book was so intensely claustrophobic – I found it incredibly skilled in terms of the relationship between the two central characters that developed and was ultimately turned in its head. As they start to sift through these half and whole untruths, the secluded setting that once seemed romantic now seems ominous. On top of being a rapist and groomer, he is also the type of person who needs to be the smartest in the room. Another common criticism of the NOBUS system is that since the NSA is exploiting vulnerabilities in systems used by US citizens and harvesting data from servers hosted in the US, there are ethical and legal concerns about the ability of the agency to avoid collecting data from US citizens. This book centers around a "romantic" getaway weekend between a predator professor and a young impressionable student that goes awry.

It’s like she’s accepted that being punched, shoved, tortured will always be her life and she doesn’t plan to do anything about it. Her mouth telling him how much she likes him, even loves him, although they have never said the words to each other. And it surged to the front again as I began this novel and immediately started to wonder just how many free A’s the male lead in this thriller must have given in his time as a teacher. The author was trying waaaayyyy too hard to make this a literary masterpiece and it was coming across more like a wattpad fanfic.
