Eureka Entertainment to release, IN THE LINE OF DUTY III, the third instalment in the action film series, starring Cynthia Khan in her first breakthrough role. His father, the Peking Opera-trained Simon (Siu-tien) Yuen, had been acted in films since the late ‘40s and had parts in essential genre masterpieces, like King Hu’s Come Drink with Me (1966) , Lau Kar-leung’s The 36th Chamber of Shaolin (1978) , and Woo-ping’s Drunken Master (playing his signature character, 1978).

Four classic police stories from the Golden Age of Hong Kong action, where the women kick ass as hard as any man. transfer features less natural grain and has minor issues with haloes along the darkest edges, but isn’t un naturally crisp or overrun with DNR, either. His performance, on the whole, isn’t particularly likeable though, as he comes across as a bit of an *rsehole. The audio is mostly acceptable in the quieter moments, but it’s when it gets loud, in terms of music or action that the distortion becomes apparent. Often overshadowed by other films in the series, In the Line of Duty III is the hidden gem of the franchise, featuring shockingly brutal and ferocious action sequences.

Cynthia Khan and Michael Wong both do elevated work here as well working with Woo-ping’s stunt team on some truly next-level action scenes. Michelle Yeoh and then Cynthia Kahn star as the toughest cops on the streets, using fists, feet and guns to take down triads, thieves and international criminals. There is some really well choreographed kung-fu here, set in the kind of present day vernacular that is rough, ready and improvisational, as opposed to the regimented and dance like action that was more common in period kung fu films. The English audio dub sounds decent but is flatter; the dialogue and action are all on the same level. Depending on your bank/credit card company, it may take up to two weeks after your credit is processed for it to post to your account. Watch the Trailer for the Jordan Peele-produced ‘Monkey Man’ directed by and starring Dev Patel Don’t encourage him!

In fact, the duo played by Stuart Ong and Michelle Nishiwaki are perfectly cast as the kinky couple that mixes business and pleasure. With a rather downbeat tone and a conclusion that doesn’t necessarily feel like a “happy ending,” the movie deserves a rewatch if it’s thus far escaped your attention. The third Audio Commentary Frank Djeng is joined by Michael Worth which begins with a great introduction to Worth and setting the table including discussing the first film in the series to use In the Line of Duty title. It’s not the most insightful of tracks, with Hammond often pointlessly describing the plot we already know after having watched the film, and Wong simply admiring the stunts.
